Phil Simms

Super Bowl champion and New York Football Giants star

Phil Simms is a New Jersey sports icon whose name is etched in New York Giants history. Drafted seventh overall in 1979 out of Morehead State, Simms built a 14-season career defined by toughness, leadership, and one unforgettable Super Bowl performance.

In Super Bowl XXI, he led the Giants to a 39–20 win over the Broncos, earning MVP honors while setting Super Bowl records for completion percentage (88%) and passer rating (150.9) — marks that still stand. He racked up 33,462 passing yards and two Pro Bowl nods before moving to the broadcast booth, where he spent decades as a trusted football commentator for ESPN, NBC, and CBS.

Off the field, Simms has dedicated more than two decades to giving back. He’s deeply involved with the Dr. Theodore Atlas Foundation, supporting families facing medical and financial challenges. He’s a regular at the Giants Foundation Charity Golf Classic and often steps up for other causes, helping raise funds and awareness wherever he can.

He’s also the proud father of Chris and Matt Simms, both of whom followed in his footsteps as NFL quarterbacks.
